OPTIMINER holds its 3rd General Assembly to drive innovation in critical raw materials exploration
The 3rd General Assembly of the OPTIMINER project brought together the consortium partners in Katowice, Poland, to review the project’s progress, strengthen collaboration and define the next steps of this initiative aimed at promoting a more sustainable and resilient supply of critical raw materials.
The meeting, organised by GIG Główny Instytut Górnictwa, highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry, research and technology to transform knowledge into innovative solutions that address the challenges facing the sector.
Reviewing progress and planning the next milestones
Representing the Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC), our colleagues Belén Garzón Súcar and Clara Balbín García took part in the two-day meeting alongside the other project partners.
During the first day, participants reviewed the work carried out across the different Work Packages over the past six months. The partners presented the main achievements, shared knowledge and experience, discussed the ongoing technical activities and aligned the project’s upcoming milestones, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that underpins the OPTIMINER consortium.
ISMC members’ commitment to innovation
Three ISMC member companies are part of the OPTIMINER consortium and were represented at the General Assembly: SALORO SLU, Leonore Development and EcoCastulum, represented by Álvaro Serrano, Raúl Fernández Abad and Griselda Elisabeth Perea Toledo, respectively.
Their participation reflects the cluster members’ strong commitment to driving innovation and developing solutions that contribute to a more sustainable raw materials sector.
Project coordination and technical visit to Comex Group
The second day was dedicated to project coordination and planning the consortium’s next actions.
Following this, participants visited the facilities of Comex Group, one of OPTIMINER’s technical partners. The visit provided first-hand insight into the company’s technologies and expertise, while also creating valuable opportunities to strengthen collaboration and exchange ideas among the project partners.
OPTIMINER: collaboration for a more sustainable future
The OPTIMINER General Assembly once again demonstrated that cooperation between companies, research centres and technology organisations is key to turning innovative ideas into practical solutions that help ensure a more sustainable and resilient supply of critical raw materials.
At ISMC, we will continue supporting innovation projects that drive the transformation of the raw materials sector, promoting collaboration between our members and the other European partners to address the current and future challenges of sustainable mining.
