ISMC participates in the Iberian Mining Investment Forum 2026 held in Madrid2026 celebrado en Madrid
On 11 and 12 May 2026, the Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) took part in the Iberian Mining Investment Forum, held at the Higher Technical School of Mining and Energy Engineers of Madrid (ETSIME-UPM). The event brought together key stakeholders to discuss financing mechanisms for mineral raw materials projects and their associated value chains.
Organised by PRIMIGEA, Fundación Minergia, COIMCE, IMEB, GEMPE/c and the Association for Energy Transition, the forum gathered institutional representatives, mining companies, financial entities, investment funds and industrial stakeholders to analyse the main challenges and opportunities facing the mining and critical raw materials sector in Europe.

A strategic forum for the future of critical raw materials in Europe
Throughout the different sessions, the forum addressed key topics related to public and private financing for mining projects, the development of strategic value chains, European industrial autonomy and the advancement of projects linked to critical raw materials.
Institutional representatives included participants from the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, the Official Credit Institute (ICO), the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The programme focused on several major themes, including:
- The European and Spanish regulatory framework for critical raw materials.
- Public financing mechanisms for strategic mining projects.
- The role of private investment in the development of new mining and industrial initiatives.
- Industrial value chains linked to sectors such as automotive, energy and advanced technologies.
