ISMC and the European project DEXPLORE to participate in the 5th anniversary of Charlando de Minas in Reus
On 6 June 2026, Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) will participate as co-organiser of the 5th anniversary of Charlando de Minas, a specialised event bringing together professionals from the mining, energy, investment and science communication sectors in Reus to discuss some of the key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of raw materials and mining.
The event, which will take place at Fira Reus in an in-person format, will also feature the participation of the European project DEXPLORE, an initiative focused on developing new methodologies for the deep exploration of Critical Raw Materials through innovative technologies and advanced geological and geophysical characterisation tools.
A platform for discussion on mining, energy and Critical Raw Materials
At a time marked by the energy transition, increasing demand for strategic raw materials and the need to strengthen Europe’s industrial autonomy, the event will address some of the major debates currently shaping the mining and energy sectors.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees will explore topics related to the geopolitics of natural resources, mining investment, the role of strategic minerals such as uranium, technological challenges linked to mineral exploration, and the importance of strengthening specialised communication and outreach around mining and raw materials.
The programme will bring together analysts, investors, communicators and industry experts through a series of keynote sessions, round tables and technical discussions designed to provide strategic, economic and technical perspectives on today’s mining industry.
Santiago Cuesta-López to present current technological challenges in mining and the DEXPLORE project
Among the featured speakers is Santiago Cuesta-López, Director General of ISMC, who will deliver a presentation focused on the current technological challenges facing the mining sector and the work being carried out within the European project DEXPLORE.
The session will provide insights into some of the challenges associated with deep Critical Raw Materials exploration, as well as the role of technological innovation and European collaboration in advancing a more efficient, sustainable and strategically aligned mining sector in Europe.
