Webinar Series on Social License to Operate (SLO): building trust in raw materials projects across Europe
The transition towards a more sustainable and resilient European economy requires not only technological innovation, but also a fundamental element: public trust in raw materials projects.
In this context, the European project RM SLO PLUS HUB, in which the Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) participates, is launching a new Webinar Series on Social License to Operate (SLO), designed to address one of the sector’s key challenges: social acceptance and effective stakeholder engagement.
Two available dates for the same training
This online training will be delivered in two alternative sessions, both covering the same content:
- 5–6 May 2026
- 26–27 May 2026
Participants can choose the dates that best suit their availability.
A practical programme to tackle current sector challenges
Throughout these sessions, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Social License to Operate within the European context, combining both theoretical foundations and practical application.
The programme is structured over two days:
Day 1 – Foundations
- Introduction to SLO and its role across the raw materials project lifecycle
- European governance challenges and barriers
- Regulatory and ESG context
- European good practices and lessons learned
- Stakeholder mapping and conflict dynamics
Day 2 – Application & Practice
- SLO decision-making frameworks and case studies
- Breakout sessions by stakeholder type (industry, policy, community)
- Cross-stakeholder interaction and real-world challenges
- Practical tools: stakeholder mapping, communication strategies and action planning
This approach combines conceptual content with hands-on dynamics, enabling participants to directly apply the knowledge gained
A European initiative led by recognised experts
The Webinar Series is organised within the RM-SLO-PLUS-HUB project and supported by EIT RawMaterials.
