ISMC participates in the RM SLO PLUS HUB Annual Meeting in Vienna
The Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) took part in the Annual Meeting of the European project RM SLO PLUS HUB, held in Vienna (Austria), with the participation of its colleague Alicia García-López.
The meeting brought together project partners to review progress, coordinate ongoing activities, and define the next steps in a key phase for advancing initiatives related to Social License to Operate (SLO) within the raw materials sector.

Project progress and next steps
Throughout the session, partners shared updates on the different work packages, highlighting actions focused on developing training tools and support mechanisms to enhance social acceptance of raw materials projects across Europe.
A central focus of the meeting was the preparation of the upcoming webinars scheduled for May, which are being developed within the framework of the project’s Proof-of-Concept pilots. These sessions will play a key role in shaping future training programmes on SLO.

Social License to Operate training: a practical and collaborative approach
The RM SLO PLUS HUB project is developing structured training programmes based on two complementary tracks:
- Education on key Social License to Operate concepts
- Consultancy services tailored to the sector
These programmes are designed to actively involve key stakeholders, including industry, public authorities, research organisations, and civil society. This collaborative approach aims to foster knowledge exchange and deliver practical solutions to strengthen the relationship between the raw materials industry and society.

Driving a more sustainable and socially responsible sector
ISMC’s participation in this meeting reinforces its commitment to promoting a more sustainable, innovative, and socially responsible raw materials sector. Integrating SLO as a strategic element is essential to ensuring project viability and building trust among stakeholders.
The Annual Meeting also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration within the consortium, exchange perspectives, and align efforts towards upcoming project milestones.
Through initiatives such as RM SLO PLUS HUB, ISMC continues to position itself as a key actor in advancing innovative solutions that contribute to a more resilient, sustainable, and socially accepted raw materials value chain in Europe.
