ISMC joins the live programme “El Filón” to foster dialogue on innovation and sustainability in mining
The Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) took part in the live recording of 🎙️ “El Filón”, a programme directed by José Luis Seco de Herrera Ordóñez and hosted at the Higher Technical School of Mining and Energy Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSIME-UPM).
The event gathered leading representatives from institutions, companies, and associations across the mining and metallurgical value chain to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and innovations shaping the future of a sector that is vital for Europe’s green and digital transition.
Representing ISMC, Patricia Núñez, the cluster’s Institutional Relations Coordinator, underlined the importance of collaboration among stakeholders and the need to keep fostering sustainable innovation and competitiveness in the European mining industry.
Two thematic episodes exploring the sector’s challenges
The event featured two thematic sessions offering in-depth insights into the industry’s strategic role and ongoing transformation:

Episode 1: “The role of the mining and metallurgical industry in the global economy: challenges and opportunities”

The second part of the programme explored the technological breakthroughs and business models driving the industry’s transition, featuring:

Speakers emphasised the importance of digital transformation, technological innovation, and energy efficiency to achieve a more sustainable, circular, and competitive mining ecosystem.
