ISMC drives sustainable mining with 18 European projects and €2.6M in funding
The Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) has reaffirmed its position as a European leader in sustainable and innovative mining following its 2025 General Assembly, held at the historic Parador of León.

The event highlighted key achievements over the past year, including:
The implementation of 18 active European projects, focused on circular economy, digitalisation, and advanced mining technologies.
The attraction of €2.6 million in direct funding, within a broader ecosystem that has mobilised over €150 million.
The launch of a new 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, built on six pillars: innovation, business development, sustainability, digital transformation, communication, and governance.
Strong media presence and regional impact
Outlets such as Radio Montaña Leonesa, Diario de León, Leonoticias and La Nueva Crónica have highlighted ISMC’s growing role in revitalising mining regions, through job creation, regional development, and support for the green transition.
The professional forum Mining Ecosystems 2025 brought together SMEs, research centres like ITA Aragón, and leading industry players, strengthening ISMC’s role as a key link between science, industry, and local communities.
The cluster also continues to grow its network, welcoming new members such as Grupo HUNOSA, ITA Aragón, Minerales Inorgánicos Estratégicos, and Dynamic & Security.

At ISMC, we continue to show that Spain can lead the future of mining, through innovation, science, and a strong commitment to sustainability..
