ISMC strengthens its leadership in sustainable mining at the EIT Raw Materials Summit 2025
The Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) drives innovation and sustainability in the raw materials sector during the key event held in Brussels from 13 to 15 May.
The EIT Raw Materials Summit 2025, held in Brussels under the theme “Race to 2030”, brought together leading stakeholders from across Europe’s raw materials value chain to discuss and collaborate on building a more sustainable, secure, and strategic future. The Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) played an active role as a key player in the shift towards innovative and sustainable mining.
Key achievements at the EIT Raw Materials Summit 2025
Over the course of the three-day summit, ISMC:
Strengthened its collaboration network across Europe.
Promoted the cluster’s mission for sustainable and responsible mining.
Showcased the progress and best practices of its members.
Supported the European projects in which it actively participates.
European projects highlighted by ISMC
A central focus of ISMC’s presence was promoting four pioneering projects that are helping shape the future of mineral exploration, traceability, and supply chain sustainability:
S34I Project: Intelligence-driven sustainable exploration.
TERRAVISION EU Project: Digital solutions for enhanced resource traceability.
PERMANET Project: Networks for responsible and efficient extraction.
MaDiTraCe Project: Traceability in critical raw material value chains.

Representing ISMC on the European stage
ISMC was proudly represented by a multidisciplinary team including Laura Quijano, PhD, Patricia Núñez Cortés, Kristiina Jokelainen, SmartNorth Ltd, and Alicia García-López, who contributed their expertise and commitment to the European dialogue on sustainable raw materials.
A shared goal: a more sustainable Europe
ISMC would like to thank everyone who visited our stand, exchanged ideas, and explored new opportunities for collaboration. These conversations are essential to strengthening the sustainable mining and innovation ecosystem.
We also extend our sincere thanks to EIT RawMaterials for hosting this crucial event once again. Through collaboration with institutions, companies, and European projects, we continue to work towards a more resilient, innovative, and sustainable Europe.
