MITECO invites participation in the strategic planning of sustainable mineral resource exploration in Spain
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has launched the public consultation phase for the National Mineral Exploration Programme 2025–2029 (PNEM). This strategic initiative aims to align mineral exploration in Spain with the country’s energy transition and sustainability objectives.
The programme lays the foundation for the sustainable and responsible exploration of strategic mineral resources, essential to the development of key sectors such as renewable energy, electric mobility, and digital technologies.
Who can participate in the public consultation?
The consultation is open to any interested individual or legal entity, including:
-
Mining, energy, and technology companies
-
Research centres and universities
-
Public authorities
-
Industry associations
-
Members of the general public
Submission deadline
The consultation will be open from 14 April to 9 May 2025.
At ISMC, we encourage all members and partner organisations to submit their feedback by 2 May 2025, so we can compile a joint proposal on behalf of the cluster that reflects the collective interests of the sector.
