ISMC drives sustainable transformation at the C2Lab in Zaragoza
On March 19th and 20th, 2025, the Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) actively participated in the Cluster Collaboration Lab (C2Lab) in Zaragoza, an event organised by the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) and held alongside The Wave 2025, the largest digital technology showcase in Aragón. The presence of over 10,000 attendees from across Europe made this forum a strategic space for innovation and cross-sector collaboration.
A space for innovation and cooperation
Representing ISMC, Santiago Cuesta López, Managing Director, and Laura Quijano, Technical Coordinator, were part of this key event, which brought together experts in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and industrial innovation. During the C2Lab, participants addressed global challenges through the use of artificial intelligence in various areas such as sustainability, industrial transformation, and crisis management.
The event kicked off with a series of high-level panels at The Wave, including a specific session on the role of clusters in the adoption of artificial intelligence. Leading initiatives from the Aragón innovation ecosystem and success stories from major corporations like Adidas and Stellantis were also presented.

ISMC in the C2Lab working groups
ISMC’s participation focused on the working groups designed to develop concrete projects eligible for European funding. With an emphasis on sustainable industrial transformation, ISMC shared its expertise in the application of advanced technologies in sustainable mining, contributing to the development of roadmaps to accelerate the digital and ecological transition of the sector.
Additionally, attendees explored funding opportunities and synergies with other European clusters, establishing strategic connections that will strengthen future collaborations. The agenda included networking sessions and high-level meetings with institutional and business representatives, further reinforcing ISMC’s position as a key player in the innovation and digitalisation of the mining sector.
A step forward towards a sustainable future
ISMC’s participation in the C2Lab in Zaragoza reinforces its commitment to innovation and sustainability, positioning the cluster at the forefront of the digital transformation applied to mining. Collaboration with other European stakeholders will continue to advance the development of artificial intelligence-based solutions that optimise processes, reduce environmental impact, and promote a more efficient and responsible industry.
The event has been a key meeting point for defining new strategies and collaborative innovation projects. ISMC will continue to work actively in these international cooperation spaces to further drive sustainable mining and the digitalisation of the sector at a European level.
