
ISMC co-organises Li4LIFE Project clustering & cross-fertilisation event at the University of Oviedo
Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) co-organised the clustering and cross-fertilisation event of the Li4LIFE EU Project, held at the University of Oviedo.
During the event, ISMC representatives Filippo Compagni and Francisco J. Luque Ruiz discussed key challenges and advancements in technology and sustainability, focusing on batteries, lithium, and critical raw materials, as well as their market adoption. The opening session was led by Irene Díaz, Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Oviedo.

- Extraction methods for critical raw materials from primary sources and recycling.
- Market opportunities in Latin America.
- Case studies on energy storage and life cycle assessments (LCA and LCC).
Technical visit to the Institute of Materials of Asturias
The event concluded with a visit to the Institute of Materials of Asturias (ITMA Materials Technology), where attendees had the opportunity to observe the first results of rock sample analysis used in lithium extraction.
