ISMC Participates in the 2023 MATERPLAT Assembly on Sustainability, Research, and Critical Raw Materials
The Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) took part in the 2023 MATERPLAT Assembly, organised by the Spanish Technological Platform for Advanced Materials and Nanomaterials and held at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The event addressed key topics such as industrial sustainability, research funding, and the critical role of raw materials in the European context.
The meeting brought together experts and leaders in R&D&I to explore the latest trends and challenges in the field of advanced materials and nanomaterials. Discussions throughout the day focused on industrial sustainability, the financing of scientific research, and, in particular, the importance of critical raw materials in shaping a more sustainable future.
A highlight of the event was the contribution from Santiago Cuesta López, CEO of ISMC, who presented the European funding opportunities available under the framework of the EU Raw Materials Act. In his talk, Cuesta López emphasised the need to focus on regional strategies and to support both local and international initiatives that can ensure a secure and sustainable supply of essential raw materials for the energy transition and Industry 4.0.
The event also facilitated the exchange of experiences between industry and academia, with the aim of further driving innovation and building a sustainable future for European industry. The organisers thanked all participants and highlighted the value of knowledge sharing and the generation of synergies across sectors.
ISMC expressed its gratitude for the opportunity to be part of this important event and reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and sustainable development in the field of critical raw materials.
